As of recent years, Finnish design has become increasingly popular. Not only because it’s attractive but there are many qualities as well as images people have about the products made from there. The design world has truly lived up to it’s name with a pure, good quality and fresh feel!
Consumers are ready to pay more for Finnish products because they are not only meant to last longer but also they are often combined with useful functions, not just attractiveness.
Also the feel is not too flashy, making it suitable for for those with simple good taste. Which most of us have. Marimekko and Iitala were the first loved brands that have already stormed the international market, despite not everyone knowing they are finnish.
The fan base has grown and even smaller companies have had a change to come forth out of the small but feisty design world of Finland. This gives an extraordinary opportunity for many designers, but on the other hand the bar is set high. Not every finnish company can stand up to the reputation people demand from them!
As Finnish imports are definitely on the rise, so is tourism. Especially in Japan all the major flight companies have started several direct flights to the Finnish design capital of Helsinki.
